Lisette’s art starts with writing journals in her attic room in Soest, The Netherlands. Here she develops a deep fascination for expressing pure emotions and truth. In her journals she can express everything. Handwriting is often the first expression of an emotion on paper. This is why Lisette is inspired by handwriting and a never ending love for the handwritten word is born.

This love for the written word combined with visuals is the reason why Lisette decides to study Illustrative Design. While studying at the Academy, Lisette arranges internships at both artist Marte Röling and artist Milou Hermus’ studios.

In 2003 Lisette graduates with a BFA in ‘Illustrative Design’ at the School of Visual Arts, in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Soon after that, she moves to Amsterdam and starts her one-woman studio. Her illustrations in which she combines her photography and handwriting are quickly picked up by RAILS Magazine and for 3 years her portraits are published in every issue.

From illustrating the whole ‘Libelle Christmas issue of 2006’ with her handwriting, to creating the artwork, photography and murals for the artistic movie ‘Zielskreet’.(‘Soul Scream’), nothing is impossible as long as it’s pure.

Lisette works for a diversity of clients, including publishers, magazines and musicians.
Lisette currently lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
